Hooks
Back in the day, or when I was a young crocheter, I used Boye hooks. I was reminded recently that I once bought a box of their hooks, which included about seven different sized and it came in a cream plastic box with a clear plastic cover. I don’t have the box any more and only seem to have a few of the hooks. I know the Boye hooks being sold today aren’t as good at the earlier one. I did buy a master set of hooks a while back just so I would have all the sizes, with intentions of always putting hooks away. Mostly I still have them all, except for the H or 5mm hook, which must be attached to some unfinished project.
About five years ago, I was dipping back into crochet and discovered Boye made ergonomic hooks. I bought a set of them and I was pretty happy with them. Unfortunately, this set has gone missing. I think I might have found a single hook from that set but the rest are hiding from me. I started an afghan with these hooks back then. It’s still an unfinished project but I hope to complete it one day and it would be helpful to find those hooks.
Last year I dipped my toe back into crochet after several more years but was limited on what I could do without the missing hooks. I do have the master Boye set but I find my hand tires more quickly with them. Plus, I am missing the all-important 5mm hook. I started to seek out an alternative set and truly fell into the rabbit hole of crochet implements. I learned that Clover Amour seems to be one of the favorite brands and there are heaps of others out there competing to sell their product. I must admit I got into a buying frenzy and have collected quite a few different sets since then, including the Clover Amour and some of the other favorites. I will eventually write about some of these sets and about the few standalones I’ve gotten.
Meanwhile, while sorting through bags of yarn and other accessories, I discovered I had already bought another hook set years ago. It’s a set by Addi that I obvious haven’t used much since they were a surprise to me and I have only a sliver of recollection of them.
